Official 2012 Honda CR-V Game Day Commercial - "Matthew's Day Off" Extended Version

Wednesday, February 1, 2012

To celebrate the launch of the all-new 2012 CR-V, Honda brought Ferris Bueller's Day Off back in a big game commercial. We cast Matthew Broderick as himself, skipping out on a day of acting work and living it up in his all-new CR-V. Relive movie history with Honda's fresh twist and wonderful homage to this '80s classic.

Think you're a true fan of Ferris Bueller's Day Off? We hid over two dozen references to the movie throughout the commercial. Some are obvious, some are VERY subtle. See how many you can find. #dayoff

The 2012 Honda CR-V was named one of the Top 10 cars with Best Resale Value by Kelley Blue Book's kbb.com. Depreciation (or loss of value) is typically a car buyer's primary expense during ownership. Taking resale value into account can help drivers save money in the long run. Kelley Blue Book® Residual Values are projected based on market conditions for each vehicle, competition within vehicle segments, expectations of the future economy and combined experience of Kelley Blue Book's residual analysts.

Smartphone traffic apps to pass traffic

Wednesday, December 14, 2011

Whether you live in Greensville, Spartanburg – or Easley – you are not immune to the traffic congestion that seems to plague our roads today.   Being able to keep up with rapidly changing traffic situations can allow you to stay a jump ahead of problems that occur on the road to and from work.  Web and mobile phone developers have recognized this and developed some applications that can provide real-time traffic reports to motorists.  Most smartphones these days come with some kind of mapping application and some include additional information on traffic conditions.   If you are looking for a bit more, consider these free apps:
Waze.com - Waze – FREE

This app utilizes real-time reports from drivers to provide up to the minute information on traffic, construction, and speed traps, among other information. It can alert you to developing events that occur on your itinerary and provide alternative routes.   The drawback is that people have to use it and report in order to get maximum benefit.  But many consider this to be the best approach to dealing with real-time traffic situations.

Sigalert.com – Live Traffic Reports - FREE
Sigalert updates their maps continuously with state highway patrol data and traffic sensors. It includes information on accident, construction, and other traffic conditions.  This is a user-friendly app. I like the fact that maps are zoomable and it can show you current traffic speeds.   This app is not available in all metro areas, but it does support Greenville, Columbia, and Charleston, and new areas are being added all the time.  This is my favorite app.
These applications all provide valuable traffic data to the commuter.  Of course drivers must utilize any smartphone app with extreme caution while driving.   In fact, you should use these apps only where you can do so safely, without endangering yourself or others around you.   Good luck!

Car Care Tips for Safe Driving during your Summer Family Vacations!

Wednesday, June 15, 2011

Summer means fun in the sun and vacations road trips for most families.  Hendrick Honda of Easley SC knows that taking an extended road trip can actually take a toll on the family car. Extreme heat and long drives can be tough on tires.  Many cars driving in summer heat experience overheated radiators, cracked hoses, underinflated tires and dirty filters. All these factors can significantly reduce the fuel efficiency, or worse, can lead to a total breakdown. Before planning a vacation with your family this summer be sure to get your vehicle ready for the trip to avoid any unnecessary hassles and roadside breakdowns. Hendrick Honda offers a quick summer car care checklist to ensure you spend more time with your family during the vacation rather than changing a flat tire on the side of the road.

If you haven't had your car in for routine maintenance in the last few months, get it into your local  Easley repair shop or auto service center for a full safety inspection a week or so before you leave for vacation. This will allow enough time to fix any problems the technician may have uncovered.
Be sure to ask your Certified Auto Technician to check the following:
  1. Check your tires as tire pressure changes with the rising temperatures. Request your mechanic to check for tire tread depth and condition. Don’t forget to have the spare tire pressure checked as well.
  2. Get your air conditioning system checked.
  3. Also insist that your car technician examines the windshield wipers, lights, belts, filters and hoses.
  4.  Check to be sure your car battery is in good shape.
Even if your car technician confirms everything is fine, there is always a possibility of car trouble while you are on vacation.  So be sure you are always equipped with an Emergency Road Kit to save you from those dreaded moments when you have car trouble in the middle of the road, especially if there is no nearby car repair service available.
Make sure your Emergency Road Kit include:
·         Flashlights and flares
·         Multipurpose tools including pliers, screwdriver, wire cutters, an awl, a knife, file, a saw, and a bottle opener
·         A First Aid kit
·         Water
·         Jumper cables
·         Tire inflator
·         Extra fluids (oil, coolant, transmission)
·         A jack (ensure that the vehicle jack is operational and all the tools are present)
·         Gloves
·         Rags/paper towels
·         Blanket

Other Useful Tip
  • Pack as lightly as possible as this can help avoiding unnecessary weight on your tires, and can help you save some gas! And be careful not to block your view in the mirror while driving.
  •  Follow the highway speed limits not only for your safety, but to save some extra fuel as well.
  • Finally, follow all the road safety rules and enjoy the open roads and the sunny sky with your loved ones!
To find a reliable Auto Service Center in your area visit Hendrick Honda of Easley SC. Hendrick Honda, is your leading Honda dealer, located at 4609 Calhoun Memorial Highway 123 Easley, SC 29640, minutes from Greenville, Anderson and Pickens county lines. You can even take advantage of our Service and Parts coupons online.
